Medicare Part D, the prescription drug benefit, is the part of Medicare that provides prescription drug coverage. Part D is offered through private insurance companies as either a stand-alone plan, for individuals enrolled in Original Medicare, or as a set of benefits included with your Medicare Advantage Plan. You must have Medicare Part A and Part B to join the Medicare drug plan. Open enrollment is happening now and will end on December 7.
